LOCO HIKER
MOUNTAINS. TRAILS. WILDERNESS. ENDURANCE.
THEY STARTED AS A PLACE TO GO. THEY BECAME A WAY OF LIFE.
I did not build Loco Hiker first and then go looking for a story to put behind it. The life came first. Years of trails, mountains, long days, hard climbs, weather, mistakes, repetition, prayer, solitude, and the discipline of returning.
The name came later. The mountains had already done their work.

REPETITION CHANGES THE RELATIONSHIP.
For more than five years, I hiked and climbed Southern California mountains almost every day.
At one point, I climbed a peak for 400 consecutive days without taking a day off—even on days when I was sick or running a fever.
I do not present that as advice or a prescription. It is simply part of the record of how completely the mountains had entered my life.
THE MOUNTAIN DOES NOT CARE WHO I THINK I AM.
Out there, confidence is not enough. Preparation matters. Judgment matters. Weather matters. The body matters. Knowing when to continue matters. Knowing when to turn around matters too.
That is one reason I keep going back. The mountains strip away performance and leave something simpler: the next decision, the next step, and the truth of whether I prepared honestly.
THE SUMMIT IS BRIEF.
THE TRAIL IS WHERE THE LIFE HAPPENS.
STAY LOCO, HIKE ON!
